Regional Commissioner -- Jacob Thoman

I joined the AYSO 153 board fall of 2019, I had decided not to coach for the 2019 season due to work schedule and wanted to still be involved. The 153 board is enthusiastic and committed to bringing the best to our Eastside AYSO community. I played AYSO from age 4 to 15 and now with kids of my own, it was the first place I looked for an enriching environment for them to learn soccer, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They started playing 153 AYSO in 2018 and play in Playground, 6U, 8U, and 10U divisions. I have had the pleasure of being involved as a coach, assistant coach, linesperson, and referee. AYSO is not only enriching for the players but for the parents that want to be more involved.

Treasurer - Marina Angel

Hello families! My name is Marina and I am a soccer mom. During the day, I work as a banker and I spend the rest of my time as a wife and mother to young boys. When my weekends are not at soccer games, I enjoy spending time in nature while enjoying the desert, forest, and beach. After seeing the passion of the board members, I decided to join the AYSO board in January 2022. I chose AYSO for its reputation in the community. Making soccer fun and affordable is important because I believe every child should have access to healthy activities. My favorite quote is “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family” by Mother Teresa. I believe the greatest impact a person can make is to set motion a ripple of kindness to those nearest.

Coach Administrator -- Christina Kinney

My name is Christina.  I played AYSO growing up in Nogales, Arizona.  When my youngest son wanted to play soccer I looked up AYSO, and that is how I came to volunteer with region 153 seven years ago.  I firmly believe in the mission, vision, and values of AYSO, and I wanted my kids to learn to play soccer in that environment. On the region board I am the coach administrator and the new coach trainer.  I am a certified referee, and I also hold a USSF D coaching license.  I am also head coach of girls’ soccer at Empire High School. I love sports, and in my free time I spend a lot of time at my kids’ sporting events.  I love the outdoors, cooking, reading, and building things that require power tools.

Referee Administrator - Andrew Angel

Hi everyone, my name is Andrew. I am a local business owner, husband, and father of two boys. I spend my free time off roading and following college and professional sports. During Fall 2021, I noticed the hard work the volunteers were doing to make the season run smoothly. This inspired me to get more involved in our community. I chose AYSO because I was once an AYSO kid. I played AYSO soccer in the 90’s and as a teenager I was a volunteer referee. I hope that my kids will gain a positive experience through AYSO as I did.

Child and Volunteer Protection advocate (CVPA) -- Amber Carroll

Hello My Name is Amber. I never did soccer as a child but my sister did. She was AYSO 153. So when my children wanted to play a sport the first thing I thought of was AYSO! I'm currently on a wait list to go back to school to become an x-ray technician. I just joined the board in 2022 and I am so excited to be a part of such an amazing organization.

Safety Director - Brian Farlee

My participation with AYSO as a player started in Region 87 (San Juan Capistrano / Dana Point, CA) and finished in Tucson with Region 153. My parents were both involved with AYSO. I appreciated their support in helping my friends and I learn the game, in addition to developing lifelong skills. Now, both of my children are playing in Region 153 and I have been fortunate enough to coach their teams. I am excited to see them grow as players and make new friends. My goal is that everyone involved with AYSO has a positive soccer experience, as I did when I was a player.
