AYSO Region 153 Parents and Volunteers,

We have reached a critical time in our region.  As many of you know, we are constantly looking for volunteers to keep our region healthy so we can provide our kids the very best soccer experience possible.  Over the past few years, we have seen the number of volunteers decrease steadily.  Many of our volunteers who returned year after year continued to volunteer their time even after their kids moved up and out or just stopped playing soccer.  As the region continues to evolve, we have seen many of these loyal volunteers resign their positions to move on to other opportunities or to focus more time on other areas of their life.  This has led to a core group of volunteers taking on ever-increasing responsibilities in an effort to keep the region active (some taking on as many as 6-7 smaller roles).

As most of you know, AYSO is a national non-profit organization, with only a few paid administrators who coordinate nation-wide efforts across all regions from the National office in California.  Because of this non-profit status, there are seven regional board positions that are required for the region to exist.

·         Regional Commissioner – Tammy Bartberger

·         Registrar – RECENTLY VACANT

·         Treasurer – RECENTLY VACANT

·         Safety Director – Andy Korchmaros

·         Referee Administrator – Eric Jones (SOON TO BE VACANT)

·         Coach Administrator – RECENTLY VACANT

·         Child and Volunteer Protection Advocate – Andie Bartlett

As you can see, we are in dire need of a group of volunteers who are willing to fill key positions within the region’s leadership structure.  Most of the vacant positions are due to existing or past board members experiencing positive changes in their life that have increased demand on their time to the point where they are unable to help on weekends anymore.

Descriptions of the above volunteer positions, as well as others that (while not required) are incredibly helpful, can be found at this link on the national AYSO page.  Volunteer Descriptions

As stated above, we are at a critical time in our region.  Without people identified and assigned to the seven mandatory board positions, we will not be allowed to maintain the region and the 400 or so kids who depend on our region for soccer each year will have to either travel significantly further or pay significantly more to experience the fun that comes with playing soccer and being competitive.

Our next registration event will be held tomorrow (10 Jun) at Udall Park from 1 to 4 PM and our next board meeting will be Sunday (11 Jun) at Fuddruckers at 3 PM.  If you are willing to help or at least hear about some of these positions, please come and talk with us at one of these two events.  If you are unable to come to either of these events, please go to our region’s “Contact Us” page (Contact Us) and click on and fill out the “Contact Request Form” and we will reach out to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your consideration!
